Matthew is an artist and performer making playful works involving audience participation and comedic exchanges. He has toured works internationally including: Tate Liverpool, MMK2 (Frankfurt), The Whitworth Gallery, Roman Susan Gallery (Chicago, IL), Teatro Iberico (Lisbon), Espai La Rambleta (Valencia), Imperial War Museum North, Live Art Bistro, Emergency by Word of Warning and in Italy when curated by Franko B.
Matthew’s works are either deceptively hyper-real, covert and critical of its surroundings, or delightfully DIY and parodic raising comment on its context. Humorous in tone, playful in participation and involve direct communication with the public to make his works flourish.
Matthew, originally from Leeds, achieved a Distinction for his MA in Drama (Performance Studies) and a First Class BA(Hons) degree in Drama and Theatre Studies at the University of Chester. He is currently Programme Leader of the Acting Performance Foundation Degree and Performance Arts BA (Top-Up) Degree at University Centre Calderdale College.
